Tying Good Karma with Bead Strings and Blessing People Throughout the Day
In the border area of Yunnan, where the bells of ancient temples echo, there is a family of craftsmen who have passed down the jade carving technique from generation to generation. Once, they cured a traveler’s long-standing mental illness with an emerald Guanyin statue. This story, which originated during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, has become the foundation of “Ciyuantang” – We believe that natural gemstones carry the spiritual energy of the earth accumulated over thousands of years, and within the circulation of the bead bracelets, there is boundless Buddhist wisdom and human warmth.
We take “favorable timing, geographical advantage, and harmonious human relations” as our creative principles, integrating Buddhist wisdom, the theory of Chinese zodiac and destiny, and the essence of feng shui into the small bead strings. The old pit emeralds from Myanmar are consecrated by monks chanting mantras, transforming them into energy containers that flow with the 24 solar terms; the Brazilian amethysts are carved according to the formation of the Big Dipper, subtly conforming to the principle of “collecting wind and gathering qi” in feng shui; and the cinnabar picked from the deep mountains in southern Yunnan is refined with the Taoist nine-turn refining technique to remove turbid qi. Combined with the traditional Chinese medicine compatibility recorded in the “Essential Formulas for Emergencies”, it weaves an invisible barrier that protects the body and mind.
According to the records in the “Mahayana Buddhist Canon”, each Chinese zodiac sign has a dedicated guardian Buddha. We carve the Dharma images of Bodhisattva Akasagarbha (for the Ox and the Tiger) and Manjushri Bodhisattva (for the Rabbit) with Hetian jade, and secretly engrave the Sanskrit characters of the Six Syllable Mantra on the bead strings, and match them with the five-element gemstones of the auspicious zodiac signs that are in harmony with the wearer’s own zodiac. For those born in the Year of the Horse, wearing lapis lazuli and red agate not only conforms to the theory of “the fire of the Horse generates earth” in terms of destiny, but also hides the Eastern metaphor of “achieving success immediately”.
Each work is a miniature feng shui layout: the emerald Pixiu bead bracelet is positioned according to the Qimen Dunjia to swallow wealth; the bead strings of the citrine wealth-attracting tree subtly conform to the flow of the wealth position of the Nine Palaces Flying Stars; and the sandalwood, agarwood, and Chinese arborvitae in the traditional Chinese medicine health-care bead strings form an “auspicious energy” ring on the wrist. The triple structure of the zodiac guardian beads, the natal constellation plaques, and the five-element fortune-transferring knots enables the wearer to form a complete spiritual field in every movement, whether walking, sitting, or lying down.
